Somebody once wrote me, asking, “There are certainly a lot of teachers and students of A Course in Miracles on the market, but there has to be something which you’ve hooked into, or caught onto? Something which triggered a transformation or perhaps a major healing. So, the thing that was it?”
“Trust,” I said.
Think of your daily life as it appears to be in this world when it comes to the story. How do we answer the question; “Who do I trust? Where do I think my safety lies? How will I be sustained? Who’s my source?” So once we talk about the last stage of the awakening being pure trust a course in miracles lesson 1, it’s simply about disengaging and withdrawing our faith and rely upon most of these made-up concepts, beliefs, and ideas in the world. It’s similar to making a big house of cards, stacking on one card following the other. Then a good wind comes along and poof, it’s only blown over. It can’t even stand a little gust of wind. It’s so frail. It’s so temporary. It’s so transitory; It was this sense of placing rely upon the Spirit and withdrawing rely upon anything else; dozens of things that were identified and learned as worldly accomplishments. Why should we rely upon those? Have they ever brought us lasting peace and happiness? Are they really trustworthy? It certainly comes right down to the essence of who’s my brother? Can it be Spirit or matter? Can it be Spirit or form? Furthermore how many of us have tried trusting people? Has anybody tried that certain?So you are asking the question, “If someone dies or appears to be dying of starvation, what does that say about their mind?” Where all this is heading is to the awareness that everything is mental. What this awakening will show you is that everything is mental and that everything is just a hallucination. This really is an environment of ideas and what we call manifest reality, is not reality at all. There’s no distinction between thought and form. Jesus has to create his whole workbook in A Course In Miracles on making the text between thought and form. His lessons start off with, “Nothing I see means anything,” (W-1) and, “I have given everything I see all the meaning it has for me.” (W-2) Then, He works his way as much as number 4, “These thoughts don’t mean anything&rdquo ;.Now, He’s speaing frankly about thoughts. First He’s speaing frankly about perception, then about our thoughts, then He comes back with lessons 5,6,7,8,9 … perception, perception, perception, perception, perception … and then number 10, “My thoughts don’t mean anything.” You can see he’s wanting to melt everything together and show the last veil or stage of awakening, that will be trust.
The Holy Spirit uses time to teach us there’s no such thing as time, to take us back to that particular timeless moment that is the gateway to eternity. He uses symbols to teach us that they’re all illusions and that they’re all equally meaningless. That’s precisely the approach to operation of Holy Spirit. The Spirit has to work with the mind to loosen the attachments from the investment in all sorts of things. What sort of things can you spend money on, in this world?
